Welcome from the Chief Executive

On behalf of its Trustees, Members, Headteachers and staff of all five schools, I am delighted to welcome you to the Plym Academy Trust.

During the Autumn term of 2015, in the wake of the tragic death of Carol Woodward the former headteacher of Woodford Primary, a number of us met to discuss how our schools could work more effectively together, building on shared local experiences as well as drawing upon the unique strengths of each school.

At the same time, a growing proportion of Plymouth City Council maintained schools were becoming academies and the Local Authority’s capacity to support schools and provide services was diminishing. It soon became apparent that in Plympton, we were well-placed to formalise our existing partnership, in order to further strengthen provision for around two thousand local pupils as well as provide support for each other, and so the idea to create our own Multi-Academy Trust was born. One and a half years later, we are very proud that the five schools have now officially combined to form a collaborative learning community under the name of the Plym Academy Trust. We are very grateful to everyone who has contributed to the establishment of the Trust.
